Language Center International (LCI), established in 1987, provides eight levels of English instruction for students at all levels of proficiency who need preparation for academic undergraduate or graduate study or who want to improve their English for personal goals. No knowledge of English or submission of any English test score is required for admission. Study is available year round with classes beginning in January, March, May, June, September, and October.
All classes emphasize active student participation and strong teacher-student interaction. LCI’s in-house standardized test scores are accepted by some Michigan universities and colleges as proof of English proficiency for admission. LCI promotes and supports global cultural understanding in its educational programs. The school is multi-cultural with students from over 20 countries who speak a variety of languages. Many of LCI’s instructors and administrative staff also know at least one other language, have lived, worked, and/or studied outside the United States and are aware of the challenges students face when living and learning in another culture.
LCI is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant aliens. It is accredited by ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training), an agency which is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
